Rainy Afternoons

Haji Lane is a pretty terrible place to be on a rainy afternoon if you do not have an umbrella, but it also makes for an excuse to remain exploring every nook and cranny of it. Haji Lane is filled with all things quirky, original and yes, indie. It is the place to go if you're in need of some inspiration, or if its the holidays and you've watched too many rom-com re-runs and desperately need to stretch your legs (guilty as charged). My best friend Nic and I hopped over to Symmetry Cafe for the best lunch i've had in weeks: the big breakfast platter (with smoked salmon) and the broccollini poached egg salad with truffle oil was a collision of flavourful symphonies in my mouth.

I've become increasingly exasperated with the speckles of cafes popping up all over Singapore island with lovely ambiences but serving poor, half-hearted platters with undeservingly high prices. Symmetry Cafe, however, truly impressed me with their food, warm service and great ambience. They have a pretty great drinks menu too, with very original flavours. I'll definitely be back soon!

We couldn't finish unveiling all the shophouses because of time, nor did we buy much (just two pairs of glasses) but i think breathing in the cold december air mingled with wisps of incensed candles that the shops and galleries were burning was a joy in itself. I loved today. It was full of the warm fuzzies(:
