haunts
Today was my first time going to Circular Road, a place which, quoting my mother, has a character completely unique to itself. As usual, she was right.
I caught myself in moments wondering if it was truly Singapore because it looked startlingly, but pleasingly different from the eyes of a heartlander. Circular Road is a district boasting a myriad of pubs and restaurants, most of which are open during the day. I can only imagine what it would look like at night, with its lights twinkling, and laughter bubbling through the open shophouse windows.
We went to Molly Malone's Irish Pub for their famous fish and chips and a bitter lemon (with a coke on the house by the friendly Irish owner) and what i deem as the best Fish and Chips i've had in a long, long time, augmented by their signature sauces which taste uniquely different from the usual ketchup, chilli or tartar sauces that i pair my meals with. Really, i just wanted to bring bottles of their sauce back.
So I've obtained approval from my mum about living in a shophouse in the future. It had been a secret (not so secret anymore i guess) dream of mine for a long time now.☺
Mostly empty during the day, Circular Road may just become one of my favourite haunts for a refreshingly quiet meal.
