hello there
Lately in church and even in my workplace in an effort to get to know me better people have literally been asking me, "so what sort of girl are you?"
How do i respond to that. In the heat of the moment i simply smiled and replied "uh you'll find out", which is as politically correct as it gets, but i've never ever considered defining myself by the parameters of words.
I love food, i eat almost everything (with the exception of durians and gum) including oddballs like ladies finger, unsweetened coffee, and the usual favourites like sushi and chocolate. My favourite things to eat include truffle fries, eggs Benedict and all sorts of seafood.
I love old films by Alfred Hitchcock, although i can't stand pantomimes, and i like how watching a movie in a dark cinema transports you momentarily to an alternate universe where everything seems bigger and brighter and your many chores at home seem just a little bit further away.
I also think that periods are absolutely rubbish, just like the entire female population.
That was a valiant attempt. Sort of. I don't know how this is supposed to work in conversations at all.
I think the trouble here is that, in all honesty, we were not cut out for self-definition. It not only inhibits us from what we could potentially enjoy, but the fact that we are changing all the time voids the assumption made here; that definitions stay. Unlike words in a dictionary, i know that i'm changing all the time; like how a younger me used to think that i would never eat wasabi but right now, its a given with all my sushi.
I think people everywhere love defining themselves: be it identifying with a particular horoscope (virgo), a personality type (ENTJ). Crafting an identity in this flux of a world gives us something to project ourselves upon, shows us certain traits which we wish we could emulate, providing us with a fun comparison among our friends. But don't forget the underlying constant behind all these: you cannot be defined. You are too complex an individual to be pin-pointed at this exact moment to be put into words for the rest of your life, which also is probably why certain facets of other horoscopes resonate with you as well (which i truly believe is all bullshit☺).
Alright enough overthinking Bex, for now I'm just going to stick with the foolproof "uh you'll find out" answer. Yes, i know i'm weird as hell. X
