first taste of french food; très tmagnifique!

When i think of French food, i imagine fancy ass dishes whose names i can't pronounce, a copious amount of butter, and snails. I had the wonderful opportunity to try out the French cuisine last night at Saveur Singapore with Jeremy. We were sold from the start. The conversation went something like this:

Waiter: "Good evening, do you have a reservation?"
Us: "No we don't"
Waiter: "Oh the tables are actually fully booked tonight."
Us: *looks at each other in shock and dismay*
Waiter: "But.. We can spare a table for you, although you have to leave after an hour. Is that alright?"

What kind of unreal, heaven-on-earth food do they serve, such that a restaurant could be fully booked before they even open for dinner? Its outrageous! Atrocious!
Let us in now.

We went in and ordered the two recommended dishes and boom. Très magnifique! The dishes are smaller in portion but Saveur packs a hefty punch of flavour. As Jeremy jokingly commented: it truly makes you savour each bite. The Duck Confit was excellent and outshone the Chicken Roulade, which was pretty great in itself. And everything was so affordable especially since its French food- take that, Poulet. No one's going to have your astoundingly pricey cream chicken after they've tried this.

Turns out Foie Gras aka fattened duck liver is rather tasty. I'll be back to try the escargot and pannacotta i've been hearing so much about! In other news i'll be receding at home because I've spent too much this week, on top of this meal. Sigh.
