Bald heads and Burritos /Keong Siak Road's Muchachos X Department of Caffeine
Nic and I went out exploring the streets of Keong Siak today. Ive visited the area with my girlfriends a year back, and missed it so much that I simply had to pay it another visit. Keong Siak is essentially a parallel row of shop houses, with pubs, restaurants, design houses and the occasional coffee shop. I love it for it's architecture and quaintness; an element you can't get at Haji Lane nowadays because everybody goes there. Nic had his first burrito (with guacamole, and lots of spicy Mexican pepper sauce, obviously) at the newly-renovated Muchachos. Honestly, I much preferred the old interior, but I definitely appreciate the fact that the food maintained it's unwavering high standard. I truly miss going out with him and my other NS friends, even if we annoy the life out of each other now and then.
We walked to Duxton's Department of Caffine to have fried shitake fries and their divine chocolate waffle. DOC seems to be perpetually crowded no matter what hour we turn up at, it's just one of those places with a vibe so chill that everyone gravitates towards it.
You should know I'm actually typing this post on my phone because my imac has decided to pull a Titanic on me and the display is refusing to surface. Woes. Also, if I had a facebook status (I haven't actually updated mine in years.) it would probably be shit ass tired for the entire past week. You can probably tell from how grumpy this post sounds. The great thing I suppose is the fact that Shinyi and I are going for a vacation the next couple of days; we are going to abuse the beach and spa. And as for now, I'm heading to bed. X
