Taking a break from the slug life

Let me be the first to confess that i am a total noob at sports in general. PE was the most dreaded period for my class (thank God i could find other fellow sloths who can relate). And anyway, its not like i need to lose weight. However, climbing has always been pretty interesting to me; in the sense that its probably the only sport i don't completely suck at.

The venue was Climb Central (Kallang Wave Mall) which was AIR-CONDITIONED and cost about $30 for an entire day's pass, which is cheaper compared to Onsight. Another great thing about CC is that they have an amazing auto-belay system built into some of their walls. That right, no more yelling 'belayer ready' or anything like that, its completely fuss free and infinitely user-friendly.

Extremely sweaty and flushed faces at 5pm after staying for six hours.

Being the first timers that we are at CC we picked the easiest course; obviously. Their beginner's slash children course located on the middle platform has 10 different routes for you to complete and it was incredibly fun. That moment when you reach the top rock and peer down; the rush of adrenaline when you realise 'ohmygod i did it!!!' is completely irreplaceable.

And trust me, for beginners (noobs) like us, half of the fun in going to climbing gyms is checking out how other climbers tackle the boulders and expert walls. I've developed such an admiration for climbers.

Im not saying its easy, but its definitely feasible for beginners to complete (and even redo!) at least 10 walls by the end of the day. We found that taking breaks in between climbs helped soothe our arm muscles, and if you're bored of climbing you can always browse the many shops or even the library located in the mall before heading back. Really, Climb Central is the best place to get your climb on.

Climbers tackling the boulders; much respect.

Yes its true that my arms are currently aching (very badly) because i haven't worked out in such a long time, but hey it was totally worth it! Im definitely returning (and in fact we are considering getting the month long membership) for another climb; it gets easier each time and we really want to tackle the harder walls in the future.
Till next time!X
