Endless Blue Tapestry /Vacationing in Langkawi
Langkawi hosts the beach of your dreams. White sand; a teasing sea breeze. In a distance, an iridescent aquamarine cove kisses the endless blue sky, forming a blue tapestry embraced with white. No amount of adjectives this literature student uses will ever do the sights below justice, and it's just as well: it was so unapologetically beautiful.
It also was, by extension, the perfect way of paying tribute (aka mourning) the end of our long holiday, especially with Shinyi whom Ive shared schools with for 13 years and counting. Once you get past the odd fact that Ive known her longer than half my life, I honestly think there's no one better to spend a vacation with.
Langkawi is extremely tourist friendly. It's not much of a place to shop, but in terms of food the variety is plentiful and oh so cheap. Everything is so accessible as well: the cabbies will take you virtually anywhere for a flat rate of RM10 (sgd 3.60).
And yes! I parasailed! Its easily the most insane activity Ive ever participated in, and I almost backed out when we were signing the indemnity forms (we will not be held responsible for both fatal and non fatal accidents that may occur...) and I don't regret it a single bit. There was a wonderful rush of adrenaline as the boat's engine roared and I was peacefully suspended above the mountain tops and the Indian ocean. Screaming for my life, for the fact that I was flying higher than the sea birds, and then screaming for joy. Irreplaceable. Till we meet again. X
